These trees are difficult to get through or around but the good news is that they are all next to gravel bars that make portaging around them easy.

The Cannon River 07/03/10

The Cannon between Faribault and Wilderness Park has several trees down. The trestle just outside of town has the left channel blocked but the right is open and easy to maneuver through. A couple of other trees downstream from this could get difficult as the water level drops. The second one has a narrow route between the root ball and the bank that both a 12 foot and a 9 foot kayak were able to pass around. I would not try this with a larger canoe.

Holiday week-end

There has been a lot of talk about going down the river this week-end but nothing concrete so far.
